AT&T is getting out of its primary business in several states because it lost discount rental rates on local phone lines. Existing business and residential customers can keep their phone service but no new residential long distance
customers will be recruited in Ohio, Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Hampshire, Tennessee and Washington.
